I have been working with fused glass for over a decade. There is something magical about fused glass as an art medium– glass will reflect and transmit light much like water does. From my first introduction to kiln-forming of glass, I could not stop thinking about it.

I use various forms of Bullseye art glass– sheets, frit, powder, vitrigraph, stringers and rods, scraps, and often pre-fired elements that combine all of the above. Everything is assembled and then fired in a kiln, shaped through a combination of heat and gravity and time. Cold work such as grinding and polishing results in a finished piece. I create both functional items like plates and bowls, as well as sketches and paintings from glass.

My day job is in land conservation- including specialized expertise in wetlands and coastal ecosystems. I have always noticed the patterns in nature and the edges between land and water in particular. Lots of interesting things happen at the edges.

My glass work explores the beauty, the wonder, and sometimes incongruity of the human experience within and along the edges of the natural world.
